Decks with overhead roofs

More usable time outside, planned as one complete structure.

On select projects, we build an overhead roof as part of a complete new deck or full deck replacement—coordinating the deck, roof, supports, drainage, and inspection scope together.

Large complete deck project suitable for planning an overhead roof
Project fitCovered-deck roofs are considered as part of a complete deck project, not as a stand-alone roof addition.
Built around your reason

A covered deck should feel integrated with the house and the deck beneath it, not added as an afterthought.

Roof load, support locations, headroom, water movement, doors, windows, and the way the deck is used all affect the plan. Treating the roof and deck as one scope gives the project a clearer path from design through inspection.

This is a growing part of our work and is evaluated project by project. We do not offer screened porches, rooftop decks, or a stand-alone roof over an unrelated existing structure.

One coordinated projectDeck layout, support locations, roof structure, access, and finish selections are considered together.
Shade and weather protectionA roof can make the space more usable during hot sun and light rain while protecting part of the deck below.
Home-specific planningRoofline, windows, doors, siding, drainage, and local requirements all influence feasibility.
Clear project fitWe evaluate complete covered-deck projects with realistic budgets; we do not bolt roofs onto small repair jobs.
Project fit

Complete deck work, clearly defined.

Specialization keeps the message honest and the process focused. If you need a complete new build or total replacement, we may be a strong fit. If you need a small repair, we are not.

Questions homeowners ask before getting a bid

Will you add only a roof over my current deck?

Generally no. Freedom considers overhead roofs as part of a complete new deck or full replacement project so the supporting structure and roof can be planned together.

Do you build screened porches?

No. We focus on open covered decks rather than screened porch enclosures.

Can every home support a covered deck?

Not automatically. Roofline, openings, load paths, setbacks, drainage, and local requirements all need to be reviewed before a proposal is appropriate.

What budget should I expect?

Covered-deck projects vary significantly because they combine a complete deck with a roof structure. The project-fit form helps us identify whether the scope and budget are aligned before scheduling a site visit.
